Abstract

This project work analyzed the relevance of the Email in modern business practices and organization. As SMEs and large firms expand, they are faced with the problem of managing numerous staff dispersed in diverse field offices. There is a need to send up-to-date information about their products to a larger clientele. The proposed system design provides a management tool that handles employee task management, internal communication and information dissemination. The new system design made use of email to alert employees of task allocated to them with deadlines; broadcast confidential information to staff according their access privileges, give access to inter-office communication through a network e.t.c. Email applications generally can be run on premises, hosted or hybrid model (Hosted and On-premises). The new system design proposes a hybrid approach where the advantages of the both delivery models can be utilized. The Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) is used to develop the application. The new system is a web application with 3-tier architecture. The Front-end was designed using Html; the middle tier was designed using Java and JSP while the Mysql database was used at the data tier. The developer made use of the Tomcat JEE (Java Enterprise Edition) container as deployment container and web server. Java Mail library was also used.
